Back in Flamberg after our visit to St. Nikolai, Tante Rili made lunch: Fried chicken and pork Schnitzel, boiled potatoes, lettuce from her garden, and more Kurbis oil.

Later that afternoon, we walked back to Tante Pepi's home. Margit told us that during WWII, our Flamberg relatives had dug ravines in the woods for the women and children to hide in when soldiers came. We visited late into the evening with family, and we sampled home-made liquors made from raspberries, blackberries, and pine cones (zibron).

The night was very dark on the walk home, but we had fun on the way. Back at Tante Rili and Onkel Karl's home, we enjoyed more Apfelstrudel and some bananelikor from Portugal. Tante Rili taught us another old saying:

Beir hat Kalorie,
Schnapps ist Medizin,
Mit Wein kommt sonnenschein,
Hinein, hinein, hinein.
.
Beer has calories,
Schnapps is medicine,
With wine comes sunshine
Go in, go in, go in.

After another great breakfast, Tante Rili and Onkel Karl took us to Leibnitz to do some shopping and to find out when our train leaves for Venice.
